ANALYSIS AND MATCH PREVIEW

Everton’s troubles on the road continued on Monday as they lost 1-0 at the relegation threatened Swansea, extending their winless run to three games, after a draw with West Ham and a 3-0 loss at home to Chelsea.
Their recent overall form may not look like much, but there’s a reason they are in 7th position in the Premier League and have an unbridgeable 13 point lead on West Brom below them. That reason is their home form.
The Toffees’ last home game ended in a 3-0 crushing by Chelsea, but prior to that they had won eight league games on the bounce at Goodison Park and scored an impressive 29 goals in the process. All of these games were won by a margin of two games or more.
Watford, meanwhile, were on the end of a 3-0 loss at Leicester last weekend as their season continues to splutter to a close. They have lost three games in a row now and dropped down to 15th in the table. They do have a six point cushion on the drop zone, a game in hand, and a better goal difference but it’s still a very poor way to end the campaign.
Away from home things are even worse for the Hornets. They have lost five in a row on the road and failed to score in all of them. Their 2-1 win over Arsenal at the end of January is their only away victory since October, with ten of the 13 games in that period ending in defeat.
Four of Watford’s five straight defeats on the road have been by more than a single goal too, so coming up against the flourishing Everton attack won’t be top of their wishlist. Considering all of this, a win for the home team and over 1.50 match goals look a safe bet here.
