ANALYSIS AND MATCH PREVIEW

Lyon’s trip to Amsterdam didn’t go to plan last week as the clinical Dutch side romped home to a 4-1 victory in the first leg of their semi final, leaving them with a huge advantage going into the second leg, largely thanks to Bertrand Traore and Kasper Dolberg, who netted three of their four goals.
Lyon followed this with a 3-2 win at home against Nantes to keep them 4th in Ligue 1, and whilst 3rd placed Nice are well out of reach, the hosts still have work to do if they want to claim a top four spot.
Their overall form recently hasn’t been great, with them winning three and losing four of their last seven outings in all competitions. At home it is significantly better, but they have still lost two of their last four. One positive to note is that they have won by three or more goals in four of their last ten home matches.
Ajax kept their Eredivisie title hopes alive on Sunday with a 4-0 battering of Go Ahead Eagles, putting them a point behind Feyenoord with just one game remaining in the league. It’s a long shot for Feyenoord to drop points next weekend, but this could turn into a sensational season for Ajax.
The visitors have now won seven of their last nine, but away from home things are a lot more difficult. On their travels they have won just one of their last six games in all competitions and have been on the wrong end of defeat three times. They haven’t lost by three or more goals since a Champions League visit to Rostov in August though.
Lyon are understandably favourites for this match considering their need for a landslide victory and their recent home form.
